WALA invites you to volunteer your services to the DC arts community! You
will gain invaluable case experience as well as the knowledge that you are
helping to support thousands of DC-area artists who need your experience,
skills and attention. You will also be invited to any WALA social and
networking events and will periodically receive our e-newsletter.
For attorneys in arts, entertainment, and intellectual property
law, serving as a volunteer lawyers provides invaluable case
experience and provides a much-needed services to the thousands
of artists in Washington, Maryland, and Virginia who require
legal assistance.
More than 350 attorneys volunteer with WALA. Our volunteers range from
partners in major national firms to those with small solo practices to
retired attorneys to law students.
If you are currently licensed to practice law and carry malpractice
insurance, we invite you to accept cases through ourPro Bono Referral
Program or to assist in a Legal Clinic setting. Other options for those
not licensed or those without insurance include sitting on a WALA
Committee, becoming a member of our Speakers' Bureau as a potential
speaker at events in and around DC, joining our Board Bank of names
available to artists looking for Board Members for their non profits, or
assisting with Special Projects as they arise.
